InMode FX and FORMA prices in Gangnam: is InMode or Thermage right for a double chin?

Written by Dr. Jay (Yongheon Ha) · Doctor, Repic Clinic

Quick answer: At Repic Clinic in Gangnam, InMode costs KRW 90,000 for one FX area, KRW 190,000 for an FX or FORMA full face and KRW 350,000 in dual mode (September 2026, VAT excluded). If a double chin is mostly fat, FX comes first; if it is mostly sagging skin, Thermage does. The doctor sorts the type at diagnosis, with Meta-Vu and Mark-Vu imaging.

What is the difference between InMode FX and FORMA?

They target different layers. FX uses radiofrequency aimed at the fat layer under the skin; FORMA is a tightening mode that puts heat into the skin layer to improve firmness. Think of them as two modes on the same InMode device. If thickness is the concern, like a double chin or cheek fat, FX. If laxity bothers you more than thickness, FORMA.

Doing both in one session is dual mode, which treats the fat layer and the skin layer on the same day. So is dual always better? No. Adding FX to a face with no thickness problem gains nothing, and adding FORMA to a face with no laxity is the same. Which layer is the problem comes first; the mode comes second.

InMode or Thermage for a double chin?

If it is the fat type, consider InMode FX first; if it is the sagging type, Thermage FLX first. A double chin is not one thing. In one type, a thick pad of fat sits under the chin. In the other, there is not much fat, but the skin has loosened and the jawline has blurred. The first calls for FX, which targets the fat layer; the second for Thermage, which heats the dermis so it rebuilds collagen. Plenty of people have both. Then the plan at consultation is FX to reduce thickness, followed by FORMA or Thermage to tighten the skin.

A pinch test gives you a rough idea. If a thick fold comes up when you pinch under the chin, it leans towards fat; if only thin, loose skin comes up, it leans towards sagging. That feel alone does not choose the device, though. At Repic, the type is confirmed by the doctor's examination together with Mark-Vu and Meta-Vu imaging. Honestly, the thing I say most often in double-chin consultations is that InMode is enough. Thermage costing more does not make it the better fit.

Here is which layer each device reaches:

  • InMode FX: radiofrequency, the fat layer under the skin
  • InMode FORMA: radiofrequency, skin-layer tightening
  • Thermage FLX: monopolar radiofrequency, heats the dermis to rebuild collagen
  • Shurink Universe: HIFU (ultrasound), the SMAS layer

Thermage FLX at 600 shots is KRW 2,300,000; one InMode FX area is KRW 90,000. The gap is that large not because one device is a higher grade, but because they do different jobs. Thermage raises density across the whole face; one FX area targets a single spot like the double chin. Thermage shot counts and costs are covered separately in the Thermage FLX cost column.

How many InMode sessions do you need?

It is not a one-session treatment, which is why Repic offers full-face and dual-mode treatments as 3-session courses too. Three is not a fixed formula. Treatments that heat the fat and skin layers with radiofrequency change little in a single session and tend to show results as sessions add up. Studies have mostly used several sessions spaced 1 to 2 weeks apart, and results vary between individuals. How many sessions, and how far apart, is planned at consultation from the thickness and the degree of sagging.

What I see in clinic is people who have one session, notice nothing, and write it off. With InMode, that is too early to judge. It does not mean three sessions will definitely work either. Get the fat-versus-sagging call wrong at the start and no number of sessions will produce the answer. That is why diagnosis comes before session count.

If you are visiting Seoul, that spacing means a course of sessions fits a longer stay or repeat visits; on a short trip, a single session is the realistic scope.

Can you combine Shurink and InMode?

Yes. The layers do not overlap, so they can be done on the same day. Shurink Universe focuses ultrasound on the SMAS layer to lift sagging tissue, while InMode works on the fat and skin layers above it. Lift from below, refine from above. Repic offers Shurink Universe 600 shots plus an InMode full face as a set for KRW 450,000 (KRW 1,150,000 for 3 sessions).

Who is it for? Someone whose jawline has started to drop and who is also bothered by cheek fat or double-chin thickness. If sagging is the only problem, Shurink alone is the better choice; if thickness is the only problem, InMode alone. Choosing between Ultherapy and Shurink is covered in the Ultherapy vs Shurink column.

What is body InMode used for, and how much is it?

For spots where thickness in one area is the concern: upper arms, love handles, abdomen, inner thighs. The principle is the same as FX on the face, but the area is bigger, so it is counted by zone. One area KRW 150,000, 4 areas KRW 550,000, 8 areas KRW 990,000, 16 areas KRW 1,790,000. What counts as one area differs by location, so the doctor marks it out at the visit.

Body InMode is not a weight-loss treatment. It is closer to refining the thickness of one spot that shows through clothes. If your weight itself is the concern, a medical consultation comes before any device.

How long does it take, does it hurt, and can you go straight back to normal?

It is not a long treatment, and the pain is at the level of heat. While the radiofrequency is on, it goes from warm to hot, and spots close to bone, like under the chin, feel it more for a moment. There are no incisions or injections, so any temporary redness or mild swelling aside, most people go straight back to their day once the heat fades. The exact time depends on the mode and number of areas and is given at the visit. If you are sensitive to pain, mention it at the consultation.

How we do it at Repic

InMode is a light treatment, and many people arrive having looked only at the price list. We still start with diagnosis. The doctor examines under the chin directly and records the jawline contour with Meta-Vu, then decides whether the double chin is fat or sagging, and whether the whole face needs treating or one area is enough. The doctor performs the treatment, and the session plan and home care are worked out on the spot, in English if you prefer. Not recommending three dual-mode sessions to someone a KRW 90,000 single area would sort out. That is how Repic works.
