What Is Thermage FLX?
Thermage FLX is a non-surgical, non-invasive skin tightening treatment that uses monopolar radiofrequency (RF) energy to warm and regenerate collagen beneath the skin — no needles, no surgery, no downtime. The heat re-tightens and re-aligns collagen from within. Like steaming a stretched-out knit so the loops draw back into a firmer weave, the heat re-tightens and re-aligns collagen from within.
What to Expect: The Thermage FLX Treatment Process
1. Consultation: Skin laxity is assessed and contraindications — including metal implants or implanted electronic devices — are screened. Suitability for Thermage FLX is confirmed.
2. Preparation: Metal accessories are removed and a return pad (which completes the RF circuit) is placed on the body. Rather than applying one fixed guide treatment grid to everyone, REPIC Clinic takes a personalized approach — shots are distributed differently for each patient according to face shape and skin laxity (a treatment grid can be drawn on request). No anaesthesia or numbing cream is required. Real-time patient feedback during the session allows energy levels to be adjusted safely.
3. Treatment: The Thermage FLX Tip is pressed firmly against the skin one zone at a time. Each shot rapidly cycles through surface cooling, deep RF heating, and surface cooling again, protecting the skin surface while delivering controlled energy to the deep dermis.
4. Finish: Soothing post-treatment care is applied. Normal daily activities can be resumed immediately — no dressing, no downtime, no restrictions.
When Will Thermage FLX Results Appear — and How Long Do They Last?
RF heat contracts existing collagen, so some patients notice mild tightening immediately after the session. More significant improvement typically appears gradually over the following weeks as the dermis produces and remodels new collagen.
The degree of improvement varies between individuals depending on age, skin condition, and lifestyle. Results from collagen remodeling are not permanent — collagen depletes naturally with age, and a maintenance or repeat session is generally considered every 6 months to 1 year. Individual results and duration vary from person to person.
Thermage FLX Safety Information & Aftercare
A prickling or warm sensation and flushing can occur during and immediately after the session. Temporary redness or swelling typically settles within a day, though this varies by individual. If symptoms persist or worsen, a follow-up visit is recommended.
For the first few days after treatment:
- Avoid saunas, hot baths, excessive sun exposure, and strenuous exercise
- Keep skin well moisturized and protected with SPF
- Light makeup is generally fine the same day
Who cannot receive Thermage FLX: Thermage FLX is not suitable for those with a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator, or other implanted electronic device, metal implants in the treatment area, or pregnancy. Those with an active autoimmune condition require individual assessment. Metal accessories should be removed prior to treatment, and any dental prosthetics should be disclosed at consultation.
